When should I start looking for a new mortgage?
If you don't actively remortgage or switch products when your current deal ends, you'll typically move onto your lender's standard variable rate — usually a higher rate.
It's generally worth starting the conversation around three to six months before your deal ends, giving enough time to review the market and complete any switch without a gap.
Even if you decide to stay with your existing lender, it's worth knowing what else is available before you decide.
Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage. Mortgage availability, eligibility and the mortgage options presented depend on individual circumstances and lender criteria.
